Vanguard: Vanguard has a minimum of $50,000 and a fee of 0.3%. Rebalancing is done automatically once every quarter and tax loss harvesting is done on a client-by-client basis. We included Vanguard because clients who invest between $50,000-$500,000 have access to a team of financial advisors. Those with accounts over $500,000 will have a dedicated advisor.

Came here with a preconceived notion but left with totally different mindset. Was wondering when looking at searches per month what would be the minimum you would consider? I feel you are going to say depends on niche. Second question, I have never thought of a directory site, how do you go about monetizing? Simply charging for a link? I have a bunch of decent domain but not enough time in the day it seems. Any advice greatly appreciated
While compiling this list, I did my best to avoid scams, and stick with practical ideas that work. I have tried many (but not all) of these ideas. Some of these helped me earned a few dollars here and there, but there are some that helped me earn extra money on the side every single day — and some are still providing me with revenue! Note that not all ideas will fit your skills and abilities. What works for you depends on your abilities and your current financial situation.

There are plenty of websites on the internet that offer digital marketing courses for free. You can sign up on those sites and learn digital marketing through various courses and programs. Those courses can help you develop the understanding for the field and get a certificate as well, but they are not as authenticated as professional certificates and tend to have low completion rates. These free courses don’t usually offer any interactive projects, practical hands-on learning, or live lectures. Although some of these free courses can help you get your feet wet, if you’re serious about learning digital marketing, you’ll need professional training with a certified online education program. As the old adage goes, you typically get what you pay for.
Owning property can earn you passive income for decades to come. Once you purchase a duplex, home, or apartment building as a rental property, you’ll earn a consistent monthly income with little work. Rent should cover your mortgage, taxes, repairs, and other expenses. You’ll continue to earn income by paying off your mortgage with the rent money and saving excess rental income.
How to monetize this site: Obviously, this screams affiliate marketing to get a commission from expensive computer equipment.  But this site could also benefit from a video course as well.  You could get all the parts the people need and show them exactly what to buy, then create a video course showing them step-by-step how to put the computer together with exactly those pieces.  Show them on video how the computer performs at that price and how it will perform if you spend a little more money on hardware.
It’s not secret that I’m disappointed as to how well BestProducts.com are ranking in Google. Especially since they only benefit from sitewide footer links on Esquire, Cosmopolitan and Elle.com. It’s seems highly ironic that Google will go through Black hat world forums looking for sites and networks to penalise but totally ignore the big fish right under their nose.
Though it can take a while to build up enough cash to put a 20% down payment on an investment property (the typical lender minimum), they can snowball fairly quickly. The key here is to correctly project income and expenses in order to calculate cash flow (the free cash you can put in your pocket after all associated property expenses have been paid). However you have to be sure to include the cost of a property manager in your calculations unless you want to manage the property yourself. Even with a property manager, you may be required to make large repair decisions every now and then – so while this is not a 100% passive activity, you are not directly trading your time for money like traditional employment.
Great article Glen! I wish I saw this when it came out 2 years ago! I recently bought a number of .com’s for a couple of the niche’s you covered here. That’s encouraging, as that particular niche still has some nice numbers and not as saturated as it seems. I’m also happy to hear you like the rank and rent model, and I think a couple of other projects are now going to go in that direction. Thanks for all your great material.

If you are a photographer looking to diversify your income stream, putting together styled stock photo packages can be lucrative. For example, a package of 15 wedding-themed stock photos for $10. You can then market this to any bloggers or businesses who are in the wedding business for their use (photos of different engagement rings styles are super popular). Through this method, it’s possible to make a continuous stream of income off of photos you’ve taken once (similar to a licensing deal).

"Create your own products and services," financial blogger and life coach Michael Tamez tells Bustle. "Any company you could ever work for can replace you at any time. However, your individuality can never be replaced! I encourage you to explore your creative talents and abilities more. What are you good at? How can you monetize that talent and perhaps even build a business out of it? Have you experienced something extraordinary in your life, and because of it, have tons of knowledge and wisdom to share? ... Creating your own products and services can create steady streams of residual income, which pays you continuously, even when you're not working. Essentially, you bust your ass once and get paid for the rest of your life — even when you're sitting on the beach, sipping coconut rum. Just remember this: When you invest in your creative abilities, you become irreplaceable!"
Earning affiliate income is one thing, but receiving the money in any country in the world you’re in, is another. A lot of people find it more difficult to receive money from low or high paying affiliate programs or networks than to literally make the money. This is why so many affiliates worldwide have thousands of dollars stuck in many affiliate programs that they can’t get their money out of.
How to Monetize the Site: This site is ripe for products.  Video courses on how to pass the Part 107 exam in the United States, courses on cinematography with drones, how to start an aerial photography business, etc.  When you have these courses created, PLEASE email me because I’ll gladly be an affiliate for your products.  I could send you TONS of business from my photography site.
Dropshipping: Dropshipping is a low risk, low cost option, as there is no inventory or overhead costs. When a customer places an order, you send the sales order information to your supplier and they fulfill the order for you. You never handle any of the inventory. Dropshipping is an easy way to start an online retail business. It is great for those retailers who are looking for a hands-off approach and not interested in storing their own inventory. The downside to dropshipping is the lower profit margins and staying on top of communicating with your suppliers after every new sale. Make this option an even easier business model with dropshipping software that automates supplier communication and order management for you.
Now I’ve been using Swagbucks for a while and have found the money works out to just under $2 an hour so this isn’t something that’s going to make you rich. You’d have to work 2,500 hours to make $5,000 so that’s about three and a half months, non-stop. The thing with Swagbucks though is you can do it when you’re doing something else so I flip through surveys and other stuff while I’m cooking dinner or flipping channels.
With more than 100,000 people from 100+ countries participated in Google’s Online Marketing Challenge, it is an online course with modules covering an introduction to Digital Marketing, search advertising, search engine marketing, video, analytics, social, mobile, and display advertising, making it one of the most comprehensive courses for beginners.
If you have started looking for affiliate programs for the first time, you are ready to make a profit out of your website. Such programs are among the most simple and efficient ways to make a living online. To ensure that we are on the same page about affiliate programs, let’s clarify what they are. Affiliate programs allow you to earn a profit by posting links or placing other affiliate tools that lead to other online merchants (such as Jetradar.com) and encouraging users to act in a certain way. For instance, to buy something, such as a flight ticket, or to complete a task — subscribe, create an account and so on.

I really like that Danny has set the bar high for the content quality. One word of advice, and something I intend to do once I have the money saved up, is to build or buy out property that can support apartments or townhomes. One tough mistake some people make is buying a pair of homes to rent out and they get a nice $2,000-$3,000 a month but that’s it. Buying a house is expensive and the rental prices keep lower income families from potentially coming to you with their money to rent. If you have an acre to work with (more or less is OK too) you should be talking to a contractor to build apartments or townhomes. You will make a little less per unit BUT your audience grows significantly because now you can have college students, single parents, older folks, etc. all able to afford your rental units AND instead of capturing one $1,000-$1,500 a month payments, you can probably charge $700 a month per unit (or more, depending on the market) and build maybe 3, 4, 5, 10 units for the price of a home or two and now you’re making something like $2,100-$10,000 a month. It all depends on what you have to invest but if you’ve got $250,000+ I’d highly suggest you talk to a bank/investor that can get you in touch with a good contractor to build on a property and get permits and take out a matching $250,000 loan (I’ve read that $500,000 is plenty to build a good amount of apartments to start) and you can fill up your apartments and make a killing every month. You’ll have more tenants to deal with but if you’re competitive with your pricing you won’t have a hard time keeping tenants or replacing them.

We certainly can’t promise that your idea will succeed.  Your success will depend on your effort and skill.  But having built MANY successful niche sites, and earning a full-time income online for the last 5 years, I have enough experience to tell you things at the start of your journey that can save you thousands of hours and missed opportunities later on.

Part of providing value is building trust. Don’t link to things that aren’t of good quality or people won’t trust your recommendations. The other part of making an audience is consistency. It matters less how often you post than how consistently. If you only have time to do one post a month, that post should come out on the same date and time each month.

SEO is one of the main techniques of digital marketers. While it is not essential that SEO can work for every business, but it can prove to be an edge for many of them. You should have an understanding of Keyword Research, Onpage optimisation, Offpage optimisation, building backlinks and Google’s webmaster tools. Don’t jump in and try to learn every bit of it in the beginning; learn other methods as well and choose in the end where you want to go deep.
However, this comes back to the old discussion of pain versus pleasure. We will always do more to avoid pain than we will to gain pleasure. When our backs are against the wall, we act. When they're not, we relax. The truth is that the pain-versus-pleasure paradigm only operates in the short term. We'll only avoid pain in the here and now. Often not in the long term.
As for what should your sandbox be, you have a few options. The easiest is to start a blog. That’s what this site was started as: a sandbox for learning content marketing, and it only became my full-time job on accident. A blog is a perfect sandbox for learning digital marketing since you can test almost all of the tactics on it, it’s low-cost, and you’ll improve your writing in the process.
Since all google searches that contain “near me” and similar triggers googles own search result inlay with map and everything to suggested place aren’t you competing directly with google then? I might have missed it but this isn’t discussed in the article. Should you skip all search results that are competing with Googles own search result box/area?
I am confused about the keywords in the spreadsheet. For example, there is a keyword “oxford shoes for kids” that shows really low competition in the spreadsheet, but obviously there are many seller in there. So it would appear the data returned by junglescout is incorrect. Searching the same keyword on the web app returned same data as the spreadsheet, so it’s not a spreadsheet problem. Any explanation for this?

Writing an e-book is very popular among bloggers, as many have noted that “it's just a bunch of blog posts put together!” You will not only have to make an investment of time and energy to create the e-book, but market it correctly. However, if marketed correctly (through blogging affiliates in your niche, for example), you could have residual sales that last a very long time.
I read this post 3 times and have made notes for future businesses. I used your “Best” “2016” idea you gave at the start of the year and started a site with the words in the domain name. I am ranking for some very competitive keywords and am raking in 4 figures in adsense every month passive via it. Barely any links but just jumped the 2016 bandwagon. I will be doing the same for 2017 though this year I am buying the domain name in oct itself so it gets some age. In Jan 2017 I plan to 301 redirect the links from the 2016 site to the 2017 site and copy all the content there. Does it make sense to do it?
In addition, you must know how much you want to earn by joining affiliate programs. Will it be your main source of income or just an additional one? For the first scenario, you should consider promoting products that are expensive and, consequently, that can bring you a good profit. If you plan on the second scenario, you can opt for affiliate programs that pay for sign ups or affiliate programs that pay daily.
