When you look at the JS data, you aren’t seeing a reflection of what you’ll get. For example, if there’s three sellers selling 300 units per month, if you join in, you’re not going to get 300 per month… you’re going to get 225 because your presence in the market has just reduced current demand by 25% for each of the current competitors. In the end, demand is only 900 units per month, regardless of how much supply there is. Everything about the business should begin from the customer or the end user. In marketing, understanding the needs, wants, motivations and problems of your customers is an absolutely critical first step. We call this research as building user persona or buyer persona. There are a lot of good resources online to learn this. One of them is listed here:
People love their pets. There are estimated 180 million dogs and cats in the U.S. alone. That’s not even mentioning all the snakes, guinea pigs, parrots, and other more exotic creatures people keep as companions. And if you’ve been to a pet store lately, you know that pet owners will spare no expense and will buy just about anything pet-relate. Gourmet dog food, pet toys, healthy treats, Heck, I’ve even seen dog strollers and cat leashes. I'm also sure there are a lot of dogs out there that eat better than I do!
I would honestly just start with Amazon if you’re looking to sell toys. As your website gets more traffic, you can start looking into other retailers. Once you have traffic and some conversion data from Amazon, you will likely be able to broker private affiliate retails with a few toy retailers. You may even be able to help them set up better funnels in general that lead to better conversions. Once you have the traffic and conversion data, you’re in a much better place to negotiate

If you find there are lots of other sellers, you can also see if they are doing well or not and find out why that is. Ultimately you want to find ways to enter a niche with a product offering that is better: more features, better quality, a better listing, etc.
My goal with this site is really only to write about 25-30 pages with information as I learn about boats and do customizations to my boat.  I’m also adding a forum.  Forums seem to be very popular with boat owners so I’m anxious to have others generate content for me.  I don’t have huge plans for this site, but I’m sure it will bring in a few thousand a month if I don’t fizzle out.  This is going to be my fun project for the next little while.
