I just started out with Affiliate Marketing (idea # 8) and it is not as easy as people make out to be. For me, the hardest part so far, is learning Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and driving traffic to my website. I’m only 3 months into it, but I am confident that the site will begin to generate some incom., I have to give it 6-9 months, so we’ll see.
This may be a method that is unusual. Drive traffic to your lens the same as you would your blog. Link to your lens on social media platforms, like Twitter. The more people that know about the lens, the more that are apt to visit and purchase. The lens can also be used to promote products on e-bay or CafePress. Write a short description of the product and its unique uses and sell away.

If customers are looking for a good deal, they will likely visit a coupon website. Such websites offer their users special discount codes (provided by eCommerce websites, of course). In exchange for users’ purchases, coupon websites get a reward. Coupon websites can be dedicated to a certain topic — e.g., coupons for travelling (hotel bookings, flight tickets, etc.).
Loved your article. Any advice on connecting to Niche Sellers? We are a small company (compared to Amazon, et al) that offers third party fulfillment. Our approach is much different than the big guys, we keep costs low, have great negotiated shipping rates and tailor our business to our customers’ needs. We don’t dictate to the seller how to do their business as the Big Guys do.
If retirement is a goal of yours (and who doesn’t want to retire someday?!?), it’s important to learn how to start investing. In fact, funding your retirement accounts should be at the top of your list. While these accounts won’t help your immediate situation, by stashing cash now, the residual income they create should help propel you through your golden years.
CPA marketing programs pay affiliates when a specific action is taken by the referral or lead. Common actions include clicks, impressions, form submits, sign-ups, registrations, or opt-ins. Since Cost-Per-Action models don’t necessarily involve a direct sale (and involve more risk taking) the payout percentages are far smaller than they are in Cost-Per-Sale.
I was reading an AMA on Reddit’s Entrepreneur section recently and came across the owner of an online store for glass pipes and other smoking-related items. Since I was working on this article at the time, I decided to do some research into the types of keywords his site was ranking for. After all, it had generated over $6M in revenue in 2016 so far so the site must be doing quite well.
Amazon is largest affiliate site with one and half million sellers and provides opportunities to both affiliates and sellers. On Amazon, you can promote the product by writing reviews or articles about the product(s). The great thing about Amazon is that with its user friendly interface, you can promote multiple products. The huge amount of traffic provides opportunities for more earnings. The only disadvantage of Amazon is that the commissions start with 4% and you’ll need to work hard to earn some bills.
Type of site: Just make this a niche site for the first several years. Don’t waste a ton of time making a podcast and an in-depth youtube channel. Make a few videos to show some setups but mostly just write blog posts. If you create a podcast episode today, nobody will listen to it again after a few months. Write blog posts that will last. There is no competition here, so don’t get bogged down with social media and crap. Just write!
On the topic of Google, Google Digital Garage is great for beginners wanting introductory fundamentals of different marketing channels. They offer free online starter courses on search, social media, mobile etc. and many more in their library of topics. These are only a starting point and more advanced training will be needed to specialize in any marketing channel.
Now, with the success of Affiliate Reviews Center, I have gone ahead to create an Amazon products review site that is on a specific niche http://www.zoom.tips which is on promoting digital cameras. The site just kicked off and I am currently working on it to see how I can get my own share of the Amazon cake. I hope to still do a specific niche site with Amazon product; the domain name is already bought and I am already outsourcing the articles and a few other things.
Rakuten Linkshare is one of the oldest affiliate partner networks that is gaining popularity very fast. To wade off competition as well as making it user-friendly, the platform come with some distinctive features. One of these features includes rotating different banner ads for specific products, making it easier to administer and optimize in the long run. Instead of having to select the ad, you would want to run on your blog manually; that will let multiple versions of ads rotate with a small piece of code.
But, you don't need to go further than that. You can simply write it and publish it and collect the income. That's all. Send out a couple emails to your list (if you have one) or post it on social media, and there you have it. Passive income. Now, the amount of income you receive depends on the quality of the book you've written. How well did you craft the message? How targeted was the information to your audience? It counts.
Ebay is another famous and easy to use affiliate website. You can earn money by directing people to register on Ebay or refer them to buy any item. To maximize your r=earnings, you can have your own website that sells the product(s) you are directing people to. For every product someone buys through your website’s link, you get commission and for every registration through your website, you get 25-30$.
Wow thank you so much for all this valuable information. I run a blog about cultural events in my city (Bordeaux in France) which is aimed at tourists and the expat community. So far I have been doing it mostly for fun but I receive a lot of positive reviews about it and I am thinking to make it more professional and to try to make some income through affiliate programs, mostly from selling tickets to events and maybe also things like flights, hotels and so. Do you have any specific advice for that industry? Or maybe a post you’ve written that I should read?

Thanks for the great article…although I have to point out many of the items listed are not passive but active, such as selling bodily fluids, writing blogs or resumes, and collecting bottles and cans. To be truly passive, the income source must require no effort on your part (after initial setup). Real estate, dividends, P2P lending…these are truly passive income sources.

A lot of concepts were foreign to me, and I came across this post on link blending, and I was like, “What the heck is link blending? What is this guy talking about? I never heard of this before.” So that concept, in itself, got me e-mailing Neil, and I just kept e-mailing him over and over. If you want a mentor, if you want somebody to learn from, and you’re persistent, they’re going to notice you over time. I kept pestering Neil, and finally he was just like, “You know, dude, let’s just get on the phone.”

I know what you’re saying. What if this idea sounds good to you, but you aren’t an expert? What if you haven’t ever even run a marathon before? Who cares! Share with others as you learn and just be honest with people that you are learning too, but you want to share what you learn. The Internet is full of self-proclaimed “gurus” so it’s refreshing to read a blog that is down-to-earth.
